A Gentlemanly Bio

Gentlemen of a Certain Age are (left to right) Rob Lifton (guitar, background vocals), Gary Seronik (vocals, bass, guitar, keyboards), and Dave Hill (drums and percussion).

Individually, the Gentlemen racked up decades in other bands, first crossing paths musically in the early 1980s. Rob Lifton and Dave Hill are perhaps best known as members of Victoria, British Columbia’s legendary Easy Money, while Gary Seronik led the post-punk three-piece Vancouver band Wages of $in, before embarking on a solo recording career. All three share a love of intricate musicality, and evocative melodies and lyrics.

Shortly after hearing Gary’s most recent album, Intermittent Transmissions, Rob and Dave enthusiastically joined him to work on new material. The result is a pair of records: Where We Are (just released) and There Will be No Miracles Here. Both recordings feature music that is introspective and outward looking; idealistic and realistic; confident and uncertain; old and new — all in equal measure.
